Unleashing The Potential Of Prayer by John C. Maxwell

Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your path; guide me in your myth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.   Psalm 25:4-5

Prayer Changes The World

There's no telling how much the world has changed as the result of the silent prayers of Christians throughout history. Prayer is powerful! John Wesley recognized that power when he said:

give me 100 preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw wheter they be clergy or lay men, such alonge will shake the gates of the hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven on earth. God does nothing hut in answer to prayer.

God's hand moves when people and pastors pray together.  Through prayer, God makes the impossible, posible.

Through prayer, God greatly multiplies our efforts. C H. Spurgeon said, "Whenever God determines to do a great work, He first sets His people to pray."  In a moment of revelation, Spurgeon had discovered that neither his sermons nor his good works accounted for the spiritual impact of his ministry.  Instead, it was, as one writer put it, "The prayers of an illiterate lay brother who sat on the pulpit steps pleading for the success of the sermonds," It was his pertnership with people of prayer that made him effective. ...

The Lords' Prayer Mathew 6:9-13 (NIV)

"This, then, is how you should pray:
   " 'Our Father in heaven,
   hallowed be your name,
 your kingdom come,
   your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
 Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.

Prayer of Jabez

Oh King of heaven

Please impart your supernatural favor as I need it desperately!

Expand my opportunities and my impact in such a way that I may touch more lives for you.

Please use me!

Release your power to accomplish your will. My all the glory go to you!

Keep evil and its deception far from me with a supernatural barrier,

keeping me safe from the grief and pain that sin brings.

Protect me with your power!

(paraphrase from chronicles 4:10 )

Effectual Prayer

...The earnest (heart-felt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available--dynamic in its working.   James 5:16 amp

Prayer is felloshipping with the Father--a vital, personal contact with God Whom is more than enough. We are to be in constant communion with Him.

For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous --those who are upright and in right standing with God--and His ears are attentive (open) to their prayer...        1 Peter 3:12 AMP

Prayer is not to be a religious form with no power. It is to be effective and accurate and bring results. God watches over Hid Word to perform it. (Jer.1:12).

Prayer that brings results must be based on God's word.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power--making it active, operative, energizing and effective; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow {that  is, of the deepest parts of our nature] exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.         Hebrews 4:12 AMP

Prayer is this "living" Word in our mouths.  Our mouths must speak forth faith, for faith is what pleases God. (Heb.11:6)

God's Word is our contact with Him. We put him in remembrance of His Word (Isa. 43:26) asking Him for what we need in the name of our Lord Jesus.  As the woman in Mark 5:25-34 placed a demand on the power of God when she said, "If I can but touch the hem of his garment I will be healled." By faith she touched his clothes and was healed.  We remind Him that He supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19.) That Word does not return to Him void--without producing any effect, useless--but it shall accomplish that which He pleases and purposes, and it shall prosper in the thing for which He sent it. (Isa. 55:11.) Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!
